Earth & Twine is a small batch ceramic company that produces meticulously hand-formed, ever changing designs of utilitarian wares which combine craftsmanship, design and functionality. The pieces created become part of everyday life, elevating the experience, from how a spoon fits in your hand to how your lips rest on the lip of a cup.
Linda Coss, the designer and maker, resides in Northwestern New Jersey, her studio is nestled on a former pasture that was once her family’s farm, a place they have called home for nearly five generations. She comes from a family of makers. Her maternal and paternal grandparents were farmers; raising dairy cows on the hillsides of Northwestern New Jersey and growing tropical fruits along the Mekong Delta in Southern Vietnam. Both the women and men in her life made things for the home. Her father was a carpenter and her mother a baker and seamstress. When not in the studio, garden or tending to her flock of chickens, Linda teaches art at a Montessori school in Upstate New York, hosts workshops and offers her wares at curated markets.
Her methods vary between hand built, wheel thrown and slip cast with inspiration from nature, travel, vintage dishware and entertaining.
